A wonderful tale of how Kippy overcomes the fear of stepping outside of his house. Since he is small, passersby do not regard him neither do they seem to care about his world, and what it means to be an ant. Kippy the ant desires to be like everybody else. Free to stroll down the street and take in some fresh air or just simply walk to the corner store. Kippy is troubled by how unfair it is to be crushed under someone's foot just because he's not fast enough to get out of their way. Suffering from all kinds of aches and pains after being stepped on repeatedly, he wonders why he should even bother to go outside at all. It seems to him the best thing to do is to just stay in the house where he would be safe from aggressive passersby who could care less about his survival or his happiness. He wonders how could it be that his friends don't have the same worry or concern that he does. How could he possibly tell them What will they think of him, and will they still be his friend This secret that he is keeping and he alone is suffering from, must be dealt with one way or the other...but who would understand how he is feeling unless they have experienced the same woe. Kippy is most happy when he is with his friends, but they don't have a clue about what's going on with Kippy. When his friends stop by to visit him they are not aware of how much Kippy really appreciates their company. They are not even aware that Kippy hasn't been going outside! Kippy, however, refuses to give in to his troubles. He will not apologize for being an ant. He has purpose and he will prove it.
